My Philosophy
I am interested in recreating the tension that lives between the past and the present. I am consumed daily with conflicting thoughts and prior memories of what society has taught me as a child, constantly challenging my plan or mold for my future. My work often parallels the ideals of art, as commercial opulence, social issues, popular culture, and the divine are what inspire me.
When actualized, these compositions are frequently encouraged by my youthful mentality and satirical outlook on life. As we get older, life is full of choices. We can choose to believe everything that culture and education has taught us, or we can take that knowledge and expand upon it with our own experiences. Beliefs are permanent, while ideas hold the opportunity to change.
Commercial Artist
As a person that sees the world visually, I enjoy sharing the dreams of the people that surround me. Whether it is personal or commercial, I strive to first understand the vision of my clients. I achieve this with conversation and research.
Once I have a good idea of what that vision looks like, I use my intuition to put my own creative spin on the design. The outcome varies depending on the depth and design of each project. I work in a wide range of 2D designed faux or textured walls, to 3D designed sculptures or larger-than-life installations.
Educator & Coach
My visions for creating art, match my inspiration to educate. I would have a really hard time living with one and not the other. I am an avid, life-long learner with a lot of patience. I sincerely try to understand where others are coming from and also, where they plan on going to. I come from the realization that most everything we were taught while we were young, we now have to re-teach ourselves.
Not everyone has the luxury of a nice upbringing or access to an adequate education, but everyone has the capacity to learn. You just have to be wiling to try. As an educator and coach, I believe in practice and never giving up, no matter how hard you have to try. If you haven’t seen failure, you couldn’t possibly know what success looks like.
My Skills
As an artist my main focus is on creating 3-D and 2-D custom art pieces for clients. Since 1999 I have been developing these skills and producing art for businesses all over the greater Chicago Area.
As a educator I strive to develop my students in becoming professional artists and preparing them for the challenges they may face throughout their careers.
